In 1950, the company developed and implemented technology for recycling waste paper into pulp, making it one of the earliest companies in the paper products industry to go green. In the six decades since then, we have demonstrated our commitment to environmental responsibility by offering bath tissue, paper towels, napkins and facial tissue made from 100% recycled materials. Today, the company remains focused on reducing the environmental impact of its products and activities by optimizing energy, materials and water use, minimizing air emissions, and maintaining transparency across every aspect of its operations. The result is reduced landfill waste, improved water and air quality, and the preservation of the environment for future generations.

• In 2000, the company set a goal to save one million trees every year; since then, the company has saved almost 29 million trees, or nearly 2.4 million trees annually.
• In June 2010, the company’s Small Steps® brand became the first U.S. paper goods brand to include an environmental facts panel on its packaging.
• In 2009, the company received the Corporate Citizen Award from the Reeves-Reed Arboretum for its paper recycling efforts and advocacy.
